Monroe County 2026 Poll Monitoring
in this year’s election we face new threats to our Constitutional right to free and fair elections in our country. Join us in helping ensure that people feel safe and confident that their vote will be counted.
During Early Voting, we are looking for people to monitor a parking lot of a polling location in two hours shifts. You will want to park in an inconspicuous spot, but in a location where you can observe the coming and going of people at the voting location. On Election Day, we are looking for people to let us know what zip codes you are interested in covering and the time range you are available in 3 hour blocks. We will provide a route between several polling locations that you will cover by spending about 5 minutes per location observing and then moving on to the next.
On both Early Voting and Election Day, we will be observing from our cars looking for the following:
- Indication of Federal Agents at the Polling Location
- People campaigning less than 100 feet from the polling location entrance
- People that are intimidating voters outside of the polling location
- Anything else that you suspect is preventing safe access to the polling location
If you notice any of these activities or anything else that looks suspicious, we will have Signal chats and a hotline to call or message where a dispatcher will be able to answer questions and reach out to external groups or individuals for help with the situation. You are also asked to document the activity on your phone by taking a video. More details will be provided after signup and closer to election day.
NOTE: We do not want to be perceived as a threat to voting security. We are trying to do the opposite! If something happens, stay in your car, contact the dispatcher through signal or the hotline, and use your phone to take video of the event until instructed by the dispatcher to perform another action.
If you are willing to divert from your poll watch location for a small amount of time to drive someone to the poll in need of a ride, answer yes to the question in the Poll Driver Signup section.
